Cycling in Newcastle: Scenic Foreshore Ride

CYCLE NEWCASTLE, SIGHTSEEING RIDE, SCENIC FORESHORE RIDE Newcastle is located on the East Coast. It is located on the coast with beautiful natural beaches and access to the Hunter Valley with its vineyards. Newcastle's original growth was built on access to the coalfields in the Hunter and steel factories to service 20th century industrialisation. With the slow demise of the steel industry, governments wisely invested in the area and built the basis for the flourishing city it has become - service sector, tourism, universities and technology businesses have transformed the city. This ride cover the beautiful foreshore, with its beaches and the industrial base of the city. A great ride is from the city through to Stockton, past the mangrove swamps (with interpretative trails), through to the city foreshore, Nobby's Point, Merewether Beach and back through to Darby Street. There are countless cafes, restaurants, landmarks, historic buildings and points of interest such as galleries, shops and bars. This is a truly epic ride - you could easily take a day to wander and explore. There are a few small steep inclines so you'll either need a little bit of fitness or walk your bike on those sections or even better hire an eBike.
