Mountain biking in Mt Buller

Mount Buller is a resort town located in the Shire of Mansfield in the Alpine region of Victoria, Australia and to the east of Melbourne on the slopes of Mount Buller.

Mt Buller is well-known as a skiing resort. However, in the summer, the place transforms into a welcoming destination for mountain bikers and other outdoor activities.

The area is also home of the first and only IMBA EPIC ride in Australia – The Australian Alpine. AND, together with the purpose-built trail systems in and around the area, Mt Buller made its way to the list of IMBA as a Bronze Level Ride Center in 2012. Yes, that’s our Mt Buller.

Also, the resort-town has about 7000 beds available in accommodation facilities, which is more than any other of the popular Victorian resorts. Many of the accommodations are certified as bike-friendly, offering bike services including bike storage, bike wash and trail maps.

Apart from biking, Mt Buller Resort has many other outdoor and indoor activities. The Mount Buller Community Center – the old campus of La Trobe University – offers a public cinema, gym and sports hall operating all year round; there are countless hiking opportunities and road riding.

Things are hotter from February to March. The weather is nice but can get as hot as 42℃.

If you still can’t arrange your trip, bring your fat bike in the snow season and get amongst the iconic snow gums and back country.
