Central Savannah River Area (Augusta, Evans and Martinez)
Mountain biking in the Central Savannah River Area
The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) is the area surrounding Augusta (Georgia) and North Augusta (South Carolina). This area is home to several of the best mountain biking experiences in the southeast. In fact, CSRA is the only IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Ride Center in Georgia and South Carolina – awarded Bronze Level.
You'll likely be surprised because the region doesn’t offer actual mountains, just hills! But that’s enough to bring you to the most exciting adventure with about 150 miles of trails.
When you visit here, you won't want to miss the Forks Area Trail System (FATS). Multiple loops stretch in the Long Cane Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest, and will definitely turn your biking vacation into a dream. It’s 37 miles of fast, swoopy, roller coaster like purpose-built mountain bike trails.
Thanks to the local mountain bicycling club, SORBA-CSRA, all the trails are well maintained.
