Cycle Canberra, Road Riding, Saturday Morning Bakery Bunch
Getting bored of cycling alone? Here is a new cycling taste for you in Canberra on every Saturday morning. Newbies/ rookies are all welcomed to this marvellous bunch ride – the Bakery Bunch.
This bunch has been going for more than 30 years, cycling different routes over time since new suburbs are built and the area keeps growing bigger.
The route we introduced here kicks off on every Saturday morning from Hindamarsh Drive Phillip at a moderate pace and slowly moves to over 65-70k loop. Therefore, although all cyclists are welcomed to join the ride, beginners may want to have a second thought.
The ride takes place on paved roads. Also, there will be some slopes along the route.
From the center, either take Adelaide Avenue or Melbourne Avenue and go south to Hindmarsh.
Food and drink
Follow the bunch to coffee in Civic.
This ride leaves The Bicycle Centre located at 14 Hindmarsh Drive Phillip, beginning with a moderate pace through the Northern suburbs finishing with a ‘Gallop’ from the Barton Highway, concluding with a lap of the arboretum. Follow the bunch to coffee in Civic.
For those struggling up William Hovell Dr, Short-cuts are available at Lhotsky and Kerrigan St. These short-cuts are also a good chance to rest up for the first ‘Gallop’.
There is no contact person for the Bakery Bunch because it’s not an officially sanctioned ride. However, you can find more information about the ride by visiting the website of Canberra Cycling Club
