Cycle Canberra, Road Ride, Googong Dam
This is a challenging and rewarding bike ride east of Canberra to the Googong foreshore and Googong Dam lookout. It is an undulating bike ride that is suitable for experienced touring bike riders and seasoned cycling lovers. It is also a very scenic bike ride, passing woodlands, open forests, grasslands, and of course offering beautiful views across the Googong Reservoir. This bike ride is often used by locals to get a good fix of hill climbing without having to travel south or too far from the city centre.
The paths are mostly paved. The terrain is not rough but prepare for an undulating ride.
Kingston is easily accessible from Canberra’s arterial roads. From the south travel along Adelaide Avenue towards the city; from the north, travel across Commonwealth Avenue Bridge or Kings Avenue Bridge and follow the signs to Kingston.
Food and drink
Eat well while you are still in Canberra’s center since the catering service won’t be as bustling as the center when you are out the Australian Capital Territory.
If your stomach can’t wait any longer, on the way back to the center, you can stop at Krack’d Peppa located at the corner of Isabella Drive and Monaro Highway. This is a perfect place for lunch serving nourishing and fresh menus you can find in the region. The welcoming café sure will keep you stay a little longer, and longer, and longer!
