Boondall to Kedron Brook

This is a great ride for young and old, no matter what your level of experience. Much of this ride can be enjoyed along wide cycle paths away from traffic, with plenty of options for breaks and interest stops.

Starting at the Boondall Wetlands, along the built boardwalk, south towards Nundah, then you will be in the heart of the wetlands. The boardwalk can be slippery after rain, so take your time passing through this area. Turining right on to Nudgee Road, keep an eye out for the cycle path on the other side of the road that you need to take. Cross the road carefully and pick up the path, leaving behind the road and keeping the golf course to your right. You will pass beneath the Gateway Motorway; the Schulz Canal is to your left. When you come across Shaw Road, the path does seem to just stop. Do not worry though, cross straight over the road and turn left, passing the Hugh Courtney Oval. The path is relatively easy to follow from here to the end, although there are a number of tempting options to explore to the side.

The terrain is all paved and easy to ride through. There is a section that get slippery easily, so be careful when it rains.

The Boondall wetlands are well serviced by road and train. Take the Gateway Motorway exit signposted ‘Boondall Wetlands’, about 10km north of the city’s airports. Alternatively, you can catch a train from Brisbane to Boondall station from where it is just a short ride to the start.

Food and drink

There are no cafés or stores along the route. Make sure you take with you sufficient water and food to complete the ride. It does pass a number of shopping centres however so incase you do run out, emergency supplies can be found.
