Intro

Fancy a gentle and scenic 30km ride through some of the best of Australia’s iconic natural bushland with heritage gold rush era points of interest along the way? The Castlemaine Loop is for you!

With an elevation climb of around 380m over the full 30km trail, the gradient is very gentle and easily undertaken by most rider levels. The trail passes through the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park, bushland and farmland, before linking up to the trail following the Victorian Goldfields Railway line.

Key points of interest include Garfield Water wheel and other highlights of the gold rush era, indigenous scar trees, forest and rolling farmland, townships and the Victorian Goldfields Railway.

The Castlemain Loop provides a mix of on-road and off-road conditions, all of a good quality surface.

Access

The ride starts and finishes in the township of Harcourt, where there is a wide offering of cafes, bars, boutique shopping and more.
