Lake Ouachita Vista Trail, Arkansas
Built over the last 10-15 years on land owned and managed by both Corps of Engineers and the US Forest Service, the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) covers 40 plus miles of shoreline and ridgetop riding. A favorite for both mountain bikers and distance runners alike.
You can start this trail from either end or one of several trailheads in the middle. The western end is lower lands with rolling hills between Joplin and Denby. The middle includes some tough climbs to the top of Hickory Nut Mountain, from where riders will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Lake Ouachita and the Ouachita Mountains. The eastern section is dominated by a long ridge ride with more spectacular views. Yep, it's not called the 'Vista' trail for nothing!
