IMBA EPIC Ride - W2, Afan Forest Park, Wales

W2, Afan Forest Park - Port Talbot, Wales

W2 is two rides linked with a gravel road that passes through sheep pasture under a wind farm. "Y Wal" loop starts at the Afan Bike Center and the road link crosses to complete "The White" loop around the Glyncorrwg Riding Center before crossing back on the same link to complete Y Wal. Some boardwalks with wire mesh for traction, some small rock drops mostly with ride-around. Climbing is a mix of single track and road with just a few fairly technical sections. There are some very fast and flowy DH Single track including bermy, roller coaster, and straight fast sections. Nothing is too steep so it's a good bang for climbing.

Start your ride at any of the four trailheads in the valley.

Food and drink

Use one of the centers as your halfway service station for food, drink, and a well-deserved break.

More details

This is a giant of a trail for Afan Forest Park at 39km, but unlike Skyline it has watering holes halfway around.

The trail combines Afan’s existing The Wall and White’s Level trails (hence the name W2). A high and low-level link connects these trails, so you can decide how to link the two together.

This trail includes two of the most demanding descents in the forest park – take care and remember to fuel up.
