Lake George Circuit via Collector and Bungendore

This circuit of just over 100km is a scenis ride on mostly quiet country roads, taking in the beautiful and historic townships of Collector and Bungendore.

The ride is relatively flat, with some undulation.

This ride is a relatively flat ride, with some gentle undulkations. 95% of the route is sealed, with a small section of gravel, towards the end of the ride, and which is easily traversed by a road bike without difficulty.

We suggest starting and ending the ride in Collector. There is ample parking here, and some great options for a little post-ride treat and recovery fuelling at Some Collector (open Thurs-Mon 9am-4pm).

This access point also provides mid-way fuelling, toilet and other services stop at the town of Bungendore, which you will reach at around the 46km mark, very near to half-way.

Food and drink stops are available at Collector and Bungendore.

Collector offers a range of fresh, healthy and nutrituous meals Thurs-Mon at Some Cafe, as well as specialty coffee and a roaring fire over the winter period. The Historic Bushranger Hotel in Collector offers a pub, bistro and accommodation seven days a week from 11am until late (please check opening hours for Mondays and Tuesdays, which may vary from time to time).

There are many food and drink options in Bungendore, including bakeries, cafes, takeaway stores, and restaurants.

Depending on your timeframes, you may also wish to allow a little more time to explore the many boutique arts and crafts stores in the Bungendore township.

Starting in Collector, and heading south along the Federal Highway beside Lake George, you will have a very flat time-trial segment of around 20km, with a wide shoulder and smooth sealed road.

At around the 21km mark, you will start a gradual climb up from Lake George, continuing to follow the Federal Highway.

At 28km, take the left hand turn onto Bungendore Road where you will continue some gentle climbing.

Continue on Bungendore Road into the township of Bungendore at the 45km mark.

Once you reach 72km, you will again take a left hand turn, onto Collector Road. Towards the end of this road, on approaching the Federal Highway again, there is a section of road, roughly 5km, of gravel. Depending on road conditions, this is of a quality that is usually easily traversed by road bike without difficulty.

Once on the Federal Highway, you will need to take some care as you make a right hand turn, crossing all lanes of traffic, and then turning left again very soon after to arrive back at your starting point in Collector.
