The Cedar Glades Park Loop is one of the best trails you can find in Hot Springs. Although primarily a technical descent with a flowing trail of high speed, the ride has a few minor difficult parts that require some climbing. ,However, in comparison with other trails in Ouachita, it’s pretty tame.
What is great about this trail is that you can get out of it at any time with various 'escape routes'. So you can make it as long or as short as you want, depending on your preference. Novices may find this trail a little difficult when approaching the climbs, but advanced, intermediate and beginners (beyond complete novices) will all enjoy this ride.
The ride has many creek crossing with a significant amount of rocks and roots. Some of the descents have high berms which speed up the descent but are still safe to ride.
Although the trail is a fast downhill ride, there are three major climbs. The first one is in the first mile. It’s not too difficult to ride, but be careful that the corner leading into it can be wet. The second one is around mile 4 - a consistent climb with lots of switchbacks. The final one is a short and smooth climb, occurring around mile 8.
Park at the northern parking lot which can be accessed from Trapper Ln. The loop is ridden in the counter clockwise direction.
