IMBA EPIC Ride | Syllamo Trails - White River Bluff Loop

Syllamo Trails - White River Bluff Loop, Arkansas

The Syllamo Mountain Bike Trails are an IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) EPIC designated trail system. The system is broken up into 5 distinct loops with numerous levels of terrain and elevation change, stretching for more than 50 miles in Blanchard Springs Recreation Area, Arkansas. Much of it is singletrack. The big gem sits in the middle of an amazing and inspiring landscape, runs over thousands of acres of the Ozark National Forest, and offers vistas of the serene White River, Sylamore Creek Valley and luxuriant Ozark Mountains.

All five loops can be accessed from four different trailheads. All trailheads have gravel-surfaced parking for approximately 20 vehicles, a bulletin board with information for a small donation/fee (kept locally to help maintain the trail and the trailhead facilities), and a pit toilet.

The Syllamo Trailhead is on the east side of AR-5, which is 10.2 miles north of Mountain View.

There are three secondary trailheads on Green Mountain Road (gravel):

  • The White River Bluff Trailhead is 1.3 miles up Green Mountain Road from AR-5.
  • Scrappy Mountain Trailhead is 3.8 miles from AR-5.
  • The Bad Branch Loop is 5.8 miles from AR-5.
  • Syllamo Mountain Bike System has everything to keep you interested all the time. Call your friends. It’s time to Syllamo!

The White River Bluff Loop is the first and shortest loop of the Syllamo Trails System. It's around 4.3 miles in length, located near the edge of the southeast Blanchard Springs Recreation Area, where White River meanders close by.

A quick trail rated as intermediate to advanced.

There is minimal elevation gained on this one, but what there is, is rough. This singletrack is generally quick and flowy when it's clear of downed trees. There are a few technical and rocky sections, mostly spread by the river overlooks.

Find the White River Bluff trailhead. From Highway 5, take Green Mountain Road for a mile or two, the trailhead will be on your right.

    Food and drink

JoJo’s Catfish Wharf right on Hayden Heights Road close to AR-5 is a great place to stop by and have a meal.
