Collector century circuit

This one is a (near) perfect metric century circuit loop on quiet country backroads that will make you feel as though you have the world to yourself.

Overview

Starting and finishing in the quiet Upper Lachlan township of Collector, you'll explore some beautiful and iconic Australian pastoral landscapes.

The entire route is on sealed bitumen road, though for approximately 1km, in around three different sections of the route, the road is quite patchy - hang onto your watter bottles or anything else that might fly out of back pockets or other attachments!

The 20km stretch on the Grabben Gullen Road is the only section with a shoulder for cycling. However, the remainder of the route has only minimal traffic, making it very easy and safe for any local traffic to pass comfortably. The ride is very pleasurable and enjoyable; even quite serene to do solo or with a small group of friends.

If you choose to take the 4km round-trip detour into Gunning, you'll enjoy some great historic architecture of the town's grand buildings.

Terrain

The ride undulates across gentle rollers for most of the route, with one decent climb halfway along Gurrundah Road for 2.7km at an average grade of 4%.

Access

Collector is an ideal start and finish point, located just off the Hume Highway on Lake George. There are ample places to park your car on the quiet side streets of Collector.

Alternatively, the route may be commenced and finished from Gunning. We recommend the side trip to Collector for the beautiful roads you'll experience on this section of the ride.

Food and drink

Some Cafe, Collector is the perfect place to start and/or end your ride. Serving excellent barista coffee (and our local Ambassador who scoped this one out take sher coffee very seriously! - trust us, if she says it's good coffee, it really is) and a fresh and healthy menu of local produce and sourdough bread, you'll be well rewarded for your ride efforts. In winter time, snuggle by the open fire with a hot chocolate pre and post ride.

60km into the ride you have an option to turn left on Cullerin Road direct to Collector; or to detour right 2km into the township of Gunning where there are public toilets, cafes and a bakery.

At Collector, there is also the Bushranger Hotel, serving meals and providing accommodation.
