Jardim Botânico to Vista Chinesa
The route connecting Jardim Botânico and the observation deck Vista Chinesa in Tijuca forest, creates a beautiful loop with stunning views and many chances to visit the city gardens and parks.
Nice location, well-maintained paths, and gorgeous vistas make this trail so appealing to biking tourists. Not only cyclists enjoy it, hikers, and walkers share the track as well.
The entire loop runs approximately 7.5 miles including an amazingly demanding 3-miles uphill ascent, which is best ridden by intermediate riders. In the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro only, there are numerous trails featuring diverse flora and fauna.
On the first half of the ride, you will roll up through the Municipal Natural Park of the City, where all streams and trails and sculptures appear in the sunlight.
Most of the route is smoothly on road with well-paved surface and bicycle lanes. The section from where the trail is about to reach the city park to Vista Chinesa is rocky and gradual. Although the whole route is fairly short, it is considered a tough ride due to this hill.
Park and start your ride right at the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro. This map suggests riding from the north side of the garden, on Rua Pacheco Leao.
Food and drink
This route can be “tough” to some people since there are so many good options to eat nearby that they don’t know which to choose!
Let us recommend you some. Puro Restaurant at the end of the ride offers gourmet Brazilian fare and elegant vibe, an excellent place for cyclists who want to explore local food.
If you want to find some of the top restaurants in the city, Mamma Jamma is your spot. It’s a traditional and dessert pizzeria with special dough.
This loop is a gem in Rio de Janeiro. Make sure to slow down and enjoy everything the ride brings to you: Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, Municipal Natural Park of the City, Vista Chinesa, and other delightful parks.
