Red beach to Mirante Dona Marta
One of the shortest but most scenic routes in Riot, this ride presents a part of the Rio’s picturesque coastline and some breathtaking vistas to the city from the hill.
The two starting and endpoints of this route offer different vibes, making a “pretty love story” of the mountain and the sea.
Red Beach (Praia Vermelha), a small, charming beach in Urca with blue waves and magnificent views to Sugarloaf Mountain. Mirante Dona Marta is a cliffside lookout point offering expansive panoramas of Rio and the Christ the Redeemer statue.
They connect through this route and give cyclists chances to see the lively life in the city as well as the beautiful nature which Rio is gifted.
A smooth and flat path on a well-maintained surface. Some parts are stone paved.
The route is easily accessed from town. You can choose to cycle from either start or end points.

Terra Brasilis right on Red Beach is a family-friendly place serving Brazilian food, hand-tossed pizza, featuring music with a great view of the coast at the foot of the mountain.
Mamma Rosa in the neighborhood of Laranjeiras, represents the flavors of Italy, tasting handmade fresh pasta, and crispy pizzas.
If you have time, make a tour to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. The panoramic view to Guanabara Bay and Rio de Janeiro will be definitely worth it.
