Strike it Rich

Another trail located in the northside of Taos Ski Valley.

If you don’t have a generous amount of time but still long for a fun and well worth ride, then Strike it Rich is your 1st option. Located along Northside’s lower trails, this 5.3-mile trail is perfect for a short ride within a couple of hours. If you’re a skilled ride, you can finish it less than an hour or just a few minutes. This one is also great to end your bike day in Taos Ski Valley.

If you want to shorten the ride even more, just access the Sawmill Trail at the Steam Engine Cutoff. And if you want to avoid the short and steep hike-a-bike section, continue down to the Gold Camp Trail by Jean’s Meadow.

Strike it Rich is a nice uphill/downhill with 35% of singletrack.

Park at the Kachina Vista Municipal Park on Kachina Road, then ride back to the Phoenix Switchback Road and climb to the northside gate.

Food and drink

Since there is no catering service along the trail, please bring water and maybe some food with you.

More details

When you reach the Northside gate, ride up Bull of the Woods Road, then take the Gold Camp Trail to Jean's Meadow. Rejoin the road and ride up the Third Mother climb to the top of the Steam Engine Trail.

Enjoy the ride down on the singletrack, crossing onto Sawmill Trail then onto Hike-a-Bike.
