Els Angels and more

Els Angels and more

If you want to ride one of the most popular road bike routes in Girona, Spain, this ride can satisfy you.

The trail begins at the stone bridge, leads straight up to the most famous climb – Els Angles – and makes its way to the hilly countryside, through several gorgeous medieval villages of Baix Empordà and Costa Brava. The loop finally ends at the Plaça Independència in the hub of Girona. Sanctuary Els Angles is a highlight of this ride thanks to its magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Garrotxa and Pyrenees mountains.

This 32-mile trail is rated as intermediate, which is better for some experienced people to explore that part of Els Angles.

The first half can be playful with a big climb and descent. The other half seems less challenging.

Rolling and smooth road. Some stretches are on rough trails and woodland paths. The second half is smoother with flatter terrain and no more rolling.

The route starts at the Pont de Pedra bridge. Follow the street down to Placa de Catalunya.

Food and drink

A number of options can be chosen along the way and especially in the square of Girona. There are also some food and drink stops at the top of Els Angels climb.
