Medium Route - Crete Senesi

The L'Eroica Medium Route brings you that bit closer to the “legend” L’Eroica!

The Medium Route is the 4th-level route of L’Eroica. Though the whole ride can stretch beyond 10-12 hours or more for those with a high level of endurance and fitness, the Medium Route is still within reach of amateur riders who have done their training.

As with other routes of the famous L’Eroica, the Medium Route has its own charm. Captivating and amazing views seem to be around every bend. On this route, you will cycle pass lush green areas and through several villages. One of them is the medieval village of Buonconvento which earns the title as one of “the most beautiful villages in Italy”.

If there is anything difficult while cycling the Medium Route, it’s definitely the famous Monte Sante Marie climb. This one is an unpaved steep road which will make your legs scream while climbing all the way back to Chianti area.

Apart from this monstrous climb, the Medium Route has several smaller and shorter climbs, but nothing can be compared with Monte Sante Marie. In fact, if you successfully conquer the biggest climb of the route, you don’t have to worry too much about the rest.

The ride starts and ends in Gaiole in Chianti
