Welcome to L’Eroica!

If you decide to take Long Route to experience L’Eroica, well you’re choosing the right route. This one is what L’Eroica is all about, and is the true essence and most rewarding of this amazing cycling event. With over 3,700m altitude difference, a distance of 209 km, and an average 15-hour riding time, the Long Route promises to give you the most extreme ride while you're in Italy. And, it's also the most beautiful route of L’Eroica, taking in the best of all the other routes and more. This includes the torch-lit ride to Brolio Castle, the charming Siena, medieval villages such as Buonconvento, and great food!

You know what this means? Hope on your bike and say “L’Eroica!” It has a certain charm.

Terrain

The Long Route has all types of climbs. From small and easy to big and challenging, even monstrous climbs. The steepest and longest one is after mile 40.

Access

The ride starts and ends in Gaiole in Chianti

Food and drink

Food stops such as the one at Pieve a Salti with its organic food are great for refuelling along the way… Don't miss the wholemeal organic spelt tart!
