The Clive-Clifton ride
The two-hour ride from Clive to Clifton may blow your mind away with the exceptional picturesque panorama of the Landscapes Ride. The wetlands and the informative local heritages, along with the wineries which could be noticed from the ride. The epic spot of the ride is the gannet colony at the end of the Cape where you can spot out several birds in residence.
Kicking off the ride from Clive and follow the trail towards the Waitangi Regional Park wetlands and the coastal corridor. Eye-hawked natural lovers can find the native breeding ground for whitebait at Haumoana. If you are looking for a surfing point, make sure to follow the Te Awanga before getting to Clifton and the Gateway to Cape Kidnappers.
The terrain is mostly flat with lime sand surface and some short on-road sections. You should be careful at the bridges approaches and the trail edges because it may be steep and uneven.
Starting the trail at Clive where provides utilities like parking, toilets, coffee and supplies.
Food and drinks
Some of the wineries offers meals and cellar-door tasting. You can also find the burger bars, dairies and cafes along the rides. Booking in advanced is recommended for some restaurants.
You can view the gannet colony at the end of the Cape by different ways as walking trail (in 5 hours return), fat bike trip from Clifton (in around 3 hours), and the guided tour (around 3 to 4 hours).
Bike hiring is available around the areas.
