The Water Ride
The picturesque ride begins at Ahuriri and follows the coast towards Bay View and heading to part of the old inner harbor. Spin around the Napier’s shoreline and visit plenty of attractions such as the historic Te Roro o Kuri Island, the site of a sacred pā site, and historic maritime beacons.
There are plenty of activities to explore along the way like the Ahuriri fishing precinct, cafés, restaurants, playgrounds, coffee houses. The nature lover will love to find out many rare migrating birds at the bird hide.
The trail is 35km in length and can be divided into shorter parts to stop and recharge the energy before continuing the trail. The trail could be extended to include the Taradle loop that covers the renowned Mission Estate and Church Road wineries.
The terrain is mostly flat with concrete and lime sand sections.
The trail can be accessed easily from the Ahuriri near the East Pier Hotel.
