This one's a great gravel grind for riders of all levels. The road surfaces are smooth and comfortable; there are no sharp climbs or steep descents; nothing technical or skill-based. Just a very pleasant amble from Captain's Flat and through some of the stunning surrounding scenery. You'll love it!
Head out of Captain's Flat following the signs towards Braidwood. The first junction on the right hand side is Wild Cattle Road. This is the one you want to turn into.
You'll immediately head into peaceful pasturelands and then duck and weave a bit between farmlands and forest of the Tallaganda National Park. The road has some gentle undulations and you'll appreciate the variety of scenery, forests and views - a bit of the best of both worlds.
At the end junction of Wild Cattle Road, you'll turn right onto the Captains Flat/Jerangle Road back into Captain's Flat. As you approach the township the road is sealed for the last few km's of your ride.
This one's a good quality gravel road, perfect for relative newbie gravel grinders who are still finding their feet/pedals.
We recommend starting and ending this one in Captain's Flat. If staying at the Captain's Flat Hotel, you can ride straight from the front door. Alternatively, park at the public sports ground.
