City of Canada Bay art & heritage: Cabarita, Concord, Rhodes
The ride commences at the Concord Oval, with two sites located here: the Longbottom Stockade and the first Rugby World Cup. The ride is 233 kilometres in length, with a total elevation climb of 438 ft.
The City of Canada Bay has a rich history, spanning from a strong Aboriginal heritage right through to modern days, including recent immigration stories and art deco architecture. What better way to explore the many historic sites and heritage interpretations than by bike!
Since European settlement, the area has served as an important industrial site, including shipbuilding, with remnants of this heritage remaining and interpreted along the ride route. Much of the residential development of the area occurred during the first half of the nineteenth century, with the architecture of the area today still bearing strong testament to this development phase.
